A lady had taken in what she was told were a pair of sows from an ad on Gumtree. Surprise surprise what she actually got was one of each which, she only realised when the sow gave birth to 6 pups, sadly 3 were stillborn. Allegedly on the advice of a large chain pet shop, she didn't remove dad and 70 odd days later 4 more pups arrived, one of whom didn't survive. Sadly the boar was left in with mum and babies in a 100 cm cage (they have been correctly sexed and split today).
Mum is almost certainly pregnant with her 3rd back to back pregnancy and there is a high chance that her baby daughters are too. All 5 piggies are pretty feral, even the 'much loved' babies, who are allegedly about 3/4 weeks old, haven't been handled and they didn't have names. The little boar is now residing with daddy pig (they will shortly be moving to Crawley GP Rescue) and mum and her girls have a large hutch to themselves where they will spend their pregnancy watch. All 5 are eating for England and munching hay like it's going out of fashion.
So without further ado please meet our newest residents mummy Maud and her girls Edith (dark face) and Blanche (cream face).
Jen, at Crawley Guinea Pig Rescue has named the boys Del and Rodney.
